ARTIST STORY
Gabrielle Moser – Artist Bio:
I am an emerging artist who has resided in Yellowknife since 2014. I use acrylic paint to present familiar subjects in ways that are engaging and intriguing. My work explores colour, light, and unexpected relationships. One example is a recent series I painted that explored the relationship between anatomy and food.
I began painting on canvas in August 2024. However, my artistic journey started earlier during the pandemic, when I was inspired to paint a discarded nightstand I found at the Yellowknife dump in a colourful and elaborate way. After painting that initial piece of furniture, I went on to paint many more.
Since then, I have worked to develop my artistic practice and painting skills through formal study. I am currently pursuing a Visual Art and Graphic Design Certificate through the University of Calgary Faculty of Extension. I have also completed art courses through the Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
I am still early in my journey as an artist and am committed to learning, experimenting, and building a body of work that reflects my interest in light, colour, and the everyday world around me.
Gabby’s work will be on display and for sale at NACC for the month of March 2027.
