NACC Front of House and Technical Assistant

Job Title: Front of House and Technical Assistant 
Term: Part-time contract (9 months; hours vary depending on the event schedule)
Location: Yellowknife
Rate: $30 per hour
Start Date: August 31, 2026

Purpose of the position

NACC presents and supports live performance, community events, and arts programming in Yellowknife. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys welcoming audiences, supporting artists and volunteers, and helping events run smoothly from arrival through curtain call.

The Front of House and Technical Assistant coordinates front of house, box office, volunteer, and selected technical support activities so that performances and events are welcoming, safe, well organized, and ready to begin on time.

During performances and events, this role serves as Front of House Supervisor, supporting patrons, volunteers, and staff in a fast-paced environment. The position also works with the Technical Director and receives training to independently support select events, including film screenings and private rehearsals.

Key Responsibilities

Front of House Supervision (Event-based 5-15 hours per week)

  • Work shifts as Front of House Supervisor during performances
  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers during events
  • Ensure patrons are seated efficiently so events begin on time
  • Manage high-paced, multi-tasking front of house environments
  • Assist with lobby use for receptions and special events

Technical & Production Support (event based, 5-15h per week)

  • Participate in load-ins and strikes, as scheduled by the Technical Director
  • Assist in maintaining clean and organized stage, backstage, and technical areas
  • Ensure safety standards are upheld in stage and backstage areas
  • Attend production meetings as required
  • Supervise technical rehearsals, as scheduled by the Technical Director
  • Recruit and coordinate technical assistants and running crews as needed
  • Provide technical support for select events, as scheduled by the Technical Director

Reporting

  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Works in coordination with the Administrative Manager, Communications Manager, and Technical Director 
  • Supervises front of house volunteers

Physical/Sensory Demands

There is a varied physical effort required for this position. Operations and maintenance tasks of the position have high physical demands including lifting, climbing, and crouching, which can cause muscle and other personal injury if performed incorrectly. There are periods where the incumbent is required to stay seated and use a computer which can cause back and muscle strain. The noise level in this work environment can be elevated consistent with performances of live music.

Physical/Sensory Demands

While administrative responsibilities generally occur during regular office hours, this role requires regular evening and weekend availability to support performances and events.

Knowledge and Skills Required

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications include:

  • 2–3+ years of experience in theatre, live events, arts administration, volunteer management, or related support roles
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Understanding of workplace safety standards
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

NACC Social Media Content Creator

Job Title: Social Media Content Creator
Term: Part-time contract (10 months with option to renew)
Location: NWT
Hours: 8-10 hours/ week
Compensation: $35.00/hour
Start Date: August 17, 2026

Purpose of the position

This contract is ideal for a creative, self-directed content creator who understands how to translate live performance, community events, and arts programming into engaging digital stories. The role supports NACC’s visibility across the Northwest Territories by helping audiences discover upcoming performances, connect with artists, and feel invited into NACC’s programming.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a well-established northern arts organization, build a portfolio of arts and culture content, and help broaden public awareness of live performance in the NWT.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation and Promotion (6-8 hours per week)

  • Gather information from staff, artists, presenters, and community partners, then turning that information into timely, audience-friendly content with minimal supervision
  • Creation of short-form video, event reels, artist or audience spotlights, behind-the-scenes posts, graphics, captions, stories, newsletter copy, and campaign assets adapted for different platform
  • Event based content capture (fluctuates with frequency of events dependent on location of the incumbent)
  • Content distribution on various platforms (social media, e-newsletter)
  • Work with other staff to align promotion with advertising and broader NACC marketing strategy

Implementation of NACC Marketing Strategy (2 hours per week)

  • Track engagement and make recommendations to reach target audiences
  • Integrate with existing marketing platforms (Spektrix, Dot Digital)
  • Apply existing NACC templates and visual identity
  • Support growth of NACC as a “household brand” in the NWT

Reporting

  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Works in coordination with the Artistic Director and Communications Manager

This position is expected to be fulfilled remotely.

Hours of work are flexible, but the incumbent must be periodically available to other staff during regular working hours.

Knowledge and Skills Required

NACC values experience in content creation, social media strategy, video editing, arts promotion, and northern community engagement, and may consider a higher rate for candidates with significant relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Education in media and marketing or minimum 3 years equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the NWT arts community, northern audiences, Indigenous and community-based arts contexts, or live performance is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work remotely with own devices and reliable internet connection
  • Availability between the hours of 9am & 5pm MST
  • NWT resident
