St. Patrick's High School presents "The Mouse That Roared"

The Mouse That Roared

adapted from the

Leonard Wibberley novel

for the stage

by Chris Sergel.

At the age of 22, the beautiful Duchess Gloriana has a lot of
responsibilities - she is the sovereign the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, a
microscopic country in the Alps.  Unfortunately, the Duchy is about to go
bankrupt. Gloriana's unique solution?  Declare war on the U.S., of course!
Her plan is that Grand Fenwick will declare war--then lose. Once the U.S.
begins to pour in reparations in the form of aid, relief, and
rehabilitation, everyone gets to live happily ever after!  At least that's
the plan.  To lead the doomed attack she appoints the forest ranger, Tully
Bascomb.  Serious-minded Tully, however, upsets all calculations when he
and his bowmen (yes, bowmen) do the last thing expected -- they win!
You'll find comment in the comedy crescendo that follows including some
pointed kind words for America.  This is a classic David vs. Goliath story
with a touch of politics, comedy, and romance.
