NACC PRACTICAL PLAYWRITING Workshop with David Copelin

NACC is pleased to present the 10 day Practical Playwriting Workshop with David Copelin.
The workshop is an informal yet structured series of sessions in which the focus is on the creation and elaboration of original work for the stage. It is suitable for any playwright, whether beginner or experienced, who wishes to work in ways that keep his or her “inner critic” from getting in the way of playmaking.
Based on techniques learned from famed playwrights Sam Shepard and María Irene Fornés, plus the David's 35 years of experience as a professional dramaturg, playwright and translator, this workshop includes exercises that stimulate the imagination, time for “writing from the impulse,” simple oral presentation of what has been created, and guided group discussion of achievements and challenges. The further development of “work in progress” is a particular focus. One major goal of the workshop is to validate each writer’s personal process; another is to help clarify this process, so that impediments to progress are identified and removed.
There are only eight seats available for the workshop. Selection is based on first come - first served basis. A commitment to the entire ten days is required.
