NACC Season Open Doors presents Diga and Rick Fines Website Link.

Rick Fines

A veteran of the folk and blues circuits in North America, Rick Fines has carved himself out an impressive niche in the acoustic blues world. He has won the MapleBlues Awards for "Songwriter of the Year" and "Acoustic Act Of The Year" (twice), also receiving eight additional nominations. In Alabama, he took first place in the Sweetgum Bottom Acoustic Blues Competition and one of his songs won first place in the Blues category of the International Songwriting Competition with B.B. King one of the judges.

His long associaton with Jackson Delta garnered numerous nominations for both Juno and Handy Awards. He has played with legendary blues piano player Pinetop Perkins, songstress Colleen Peterson and folk icon Penny Lang, bringing his blues, finger-style and bottleneck guitar to the stage and the studio. Last year he toured from the Gulf of Mexico to Deline and from British Columbia to New York City.

Diga

Diga is originally from the Tlicho community of Behchoko and is a passionate singer/songwriter who performs with great respect for the land, the Tlicho culture and the community Elders.  An award winning singer/songwriter, his music draws inspiration from the earth and exposes the conflicts that arise from the evolution of his native culture and his place in the two worlds that dominate northern life.

In 2010 he received a Juno nomination for "Best Aboriginal Album of the Year." At the 2009 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards he was nominated for "Best Instrumental Album of the Year." In 2005 at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, he won "Best Male Artist of the Year" and was nominated also for "Best Folk Album."
