The Drum. The Heartbeat of the North

Join the Northwest Territories Collective for a preview of their Olympic Victory Ceremony show, taking place on February 19 in BC Place in Vancouver.  The Collective is a collaborative group of musicians from across the NWT who will be sharing the sounds and stories of today's north at performances across Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics.

The Northwest Territories is home to many musicians and artists who embrace both traditional styles and music from other influences.  This show shares a glimpse into the fun of living, laughing and playing in today’s north through a musical journey that includes traditional drumming and dancing, spoken word poetry, northern sports demonstrations, ballads, fiddle tunes, and rock and blues numbers.   Underlying everything is the beat of the drum, the heartbeat of the North.
